No power faults
Dead iPad repair — big board, findable fault.
iPads fail the same way iPhones do — shorted rails, charging-path faults, liquid creep — but on a larger board that is often more rewarding to repair. A dead iPad with your notes, artwork or a child's photos on it is exactly the case where diagnosis-first earns its keep.
The fixed £35 diagnostic covers the assessment described below and both-way UK tracked shipping. If you approve the repair quote, the fee is deducted from that quote. No repair work starts without your approval.
The symptom
How dead iPads present
The behaviour before and at failure narrows the fault family:
- No response to power, charge or a forced restart
- Apple logo flickers and dies, or a battery icon loops
- Died gradually — shorter battery life, random shutdowns, then nothing
- Only responds when plugged in, and dies the moment it is unplugged
Likely causes
The usual suspects
Charging IC failure
iPads share the same family of charging-IC faults as iPhones, and cheap chargers do the same damage. The battery empties and cannot refill — the iPad looks dead.
Shorted power rails
One failed component pulling a rail low stops the whole boot. Bench current measurement points straight at the rail responsible.
Slow liquid creep
iPads live in kitchens and bathrooms. Steam and splashes work in around the edges, and the corrosion shows up as failures weeks later.
Battery and connection faults
A failed battery or a damaged battery connection can mimic a dead board. Cheaper to fix — and the diagnostic distinguishes it before any quote.
What the diagnostic finds
What the £35 assessment actually does.
- Bench power testing with current profiling — the dead-device fingerprint
- Short-circuit isolation across the power rails
- Microscope inspection for corrosion and joint damage
- Written findings, the repair route and the exact quote, before you approve anything
The findings arrive in writing with the quote. You approve, decline or extend — the fee terms are explained in the FAQ.
Describe the fault once — the booking form fills itself.
Tech2Fix Intelligent Intake reads your description, identifies the likely service route and pre-fills the booking for you to review. Completed repairs carry a 90-day warranty on the specific fault repaired.

iPad no power FAQ
Is a dead iPad worth repairing compared to replacing it?
Often yes — iPads are expensive to replace, and many no-power faults are single-component repairs. The £35 diagnostic prices the actual fault so you can compare like for like instead of guessing.
Can you get the data off a dead iPad?
Frequently. If the storage is intact — the common case — the board can usually be brought up far enough to extract a full backup, even when a full repair is not the sensible route. Book it as data recovery if that is your priority.
My iPad only shows a battery symbol or flickering logo. Is that dead?
It is a power fault presenting slightly earlier in the chain, and it is a good sign — partial life usually means more of the board is healthy. The same diagnostic covers it.
