Liquid damage
iPhone water damage repair — before corrosion finishes the job.
Liquid damage is progressive. The phone that survived the sink on Saturday can fail the following month as corrosion spreads. The earlier a liquid-exposed board is cleaned and inspected, the more there is left to save — including the data.
The fixed £35 diagnostic covers the assessment described below and both-way UK tracked shipping. If you approve the repair quote, the fee is deducted from that quote. No repair work starts without your approval.
The symptom
How liquid damage shows itself
Liquid faults are misleading — the symptom often appears far from the corrosion causing it:
- Died immediately, or days to weeks after getting wet
- Screen flickering, ghost touches or a dim display after exposure
- Refusing to charge, or only charging intermittently
- Overheating or draining quickly since the exposure
Likely causes
Why liquid keeps causing damage after it dries
Electrolytic corrosion
While any moisture remains, current flow accelerates corrosion at powered pads and joints. Damage keeps developing even when the phone seems fine.
Charging makes it worse
Plugging in a wet phone pushes current through wet circuits. If your iPhone got wet, powering off and not charging is the single best thing you can do.
Residue conducts
Even after drying, mineral and salt residue conducts and slowly eats pads. Sea water, drinks and cleaning fluids are far worse than fresh water.
The rice myth costs time
Rice does not clean residue off a board. What helps is prompt disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning and inspection — the things a lab does.
What the diagnostic finds
What the £35 assessment actually does.
- Full disassembly and ultrasonic cleaning of the board where liquid exposure is confirmed
- Microscope mapping of corrosion, damaged pads and affected components
- Power-rail testing after cleaning to find failed components the corrosion left behind
- An honest written verdict: repair, data-first recovery, or not viable — before you spend anything beyond the diagnostic
The findings arrive in writing with the quote. You approve, decline or extend — the fee terms are explained in the FAQ.
Describe the fault once — the booking form fills itself.
Tech2Fix Intelligent Intake reads your description, identifies the likely service route and pre-fills the booking for you to review. Completed repairs carry a 90-day warranty on the specific fault repaired.

iPhone water / liquid damage FAQ
My iPhone got wet but still works. Should I do anything?
If it took a proper soaking, yes — corrosion develops over time, and a phone that works today can fail weeks later. An early clean and inspection is much cheaper than a rescue later. A light splash on a modern sealed iPhone is usually fine.
Can data be recovered from a water-damaged iPhone?
Frequently, yes — where viable, we repair the board enough to extract a full device backup even when the phone is not worth returning to daily use. If data is your priority, book it as data recovery and we treat extraction as the goal.
What should I do right now, before posting it?
Power it off, do not charge it, and do not repeatedly try to turn it on. If it went into sea water or a sugary drink, time matters more — book promptly and note the liquid type on the form.
