Audio faults

iPad no sound repair — speakers, audio IC, or something wetter.

No sound, crackling audio or sound from only one speaker can be a blown speaker, a failed audio amplifier on the board, or liquid damage working through the audio circuit. Each has a different fix, which is why we test before replacing anything.

£35
Fixed diagnostic charge

The fixed £35 diagnostic covers the assessment described below and both-way UK tracked shipping. If you approve the repair quote, the fee is deducted from that quote. No repair work starts without your approval.

Audio symptoms worth describing precisely

Tell us exactly what you hear — it narrows the fault fast:

  • Complete silence from all speakers, with volume confirmed up
  • Sound from one speaker only, or noticeably quieter on one side
  • Crackling, distortion or rattling at higher volumes
  • Audio failed after a drop or liquid exposure

What silences an iPad

🔊

Speaker damage

A blown or water-damaged speaker driver is the simple case — confirmed by testing the audio signal reaching it before you pay for a replacement.

🧠

Audio amplifier IC

The chip that drives the speakers from the board can fail on its own, producing silence or distortion even with perfectly good speakers.

💧

Liquid in the audio path

Liquid exposure commonly reaches the speaker grilles first — corrosion here causes crackling or silence well before other symptoms appear.

🔌

Connector or flex damage

A dislodged speaker connector from a drop or previous repair can silence a speaker while everything else works normally.

What the £35 assessment actually does.

  • Signal testing at the speaker connector to confirm whether audio is reaching it
  • Audio amplifier IC testing on the board
  • Speaker driver inspection for physical or liquid damage
  • A written finding on the fault and repair route, priced before you approve

The findings arrive in writing with the quote. You approve, decline or extend — the fee terms are explained in the FAQ.

Describe the fault once — the booking form fills itself.

Tech2Fix Intelligent Intake reads your description, identifies the likely service route and pre-fills the booking for you to review. Completed repairs carry a 90-day warranty on the specific fault repaired.

iPad no sound FAQ

Only one speaker works. Is that cheaper to fix than total silence?

Often, yes — a single failed speaker or its connector is usually a more contained fault than a board-level amplifier problem, but the diagnostic confirms which one you have before quoting either way.

My iPad got wet a while ago and now has no sound. Related?

Very likely — speaker grilles are one of the first places liquid reaches, and corrosion there causes exactly this pattern, sometimes weeks after the exposure. Mention the liquid history when you book.

Could this be a software issue instead?

Possible but uncommon once basic checks (volume, mute switch, Bluetooth audio routing) are ruled out. If you've confirmed those, a persistent silent or crackling speaker is worth diagnosing at board level.
